The August SAT is Closer Than It Appears
As summer approaches, Applerouth is here to help make sure the August SAT doesn’t sneak up on you. Especially for rising seniors aiming to finish testing before the application deadline, starting SAT prep as soon as possible is essential for success.
Summer tends to fly by with scheduled vacations, camps, and classes quickly eating up your free time – not to mention the impromptu fun plans you’ll want to say yes to!
Translation:
What feels today like endless weeks to fit in your August SAT prep can quickly shrink to a mad dash to the finish without an action plan. And for those hoping to finish testing before school (and college application season!) begin, it’s critical to stay ahead of the game.
How to Make the Most of Your Summer Tutoring
Schedule Prep Sessions Early
Carve out regular times each week for your SAT prep, and get them all in the calendar as soon as you start your prep. This will help you build a routine and keep up with your studies even as the summer months get busier.
June 1st marks 12 weeks until the test. In order to get in enough regular weekly sessions by the time the August SAT arrives, you need to start now! Now is a crucial point in the build-up to the test, so the sooner you get them scheduled, the better.
Plan Ahead for Any Scheduled Breaks
It’s likely there will be a week or two where you don’t get a chance to meet your tutor due to travel or other commitments. Speaking with them early can make sure a week off doesn’t stop your momentum.
We suggest doubling up on meetings the week before or after a break. It’s also a good idea to ask for extra homework or a practice test if you have slightly longer between sessions.
Stay Consistent (& Communicative)
Again, consistency is crucial. Regular, scheduled sessions with a tutor will help you retain what you learn and build confidence for the test day! If activities or conflicts come up in your schedule, speak to your tutor immediately to fit them into the plan, rather than letting them interrupt it.
