Ruth Perlstein, an independent college counselor in Virginia, offers family counseling and individual sessions to help students move forward in the college selection and application process. Her work with high school juniors and seniors includes suggestions for colleges to research, a second opinion about course selection and testing, and an opportunity to discover strengths that can be appropriately presented in a college application. She uses an experiential exercise to begin the application essay, provides essay and resume feedback, and encourages students to complete applications that do them justice.

Ruth Perlstein is a former high school counselor and a licensed professional counselor. She is a professional member of IECA, NACAC, PACACAC, and ACCESS.
