In 1998, Lida began her educational counseling firm, Lida Griest Educational Counseling, LLC. Since that time Lida has worked with hundreds of families helping them identify the “right” school fit for their children. She enjoys working with all ages of students ranging from five-year-olds to students applying to graduate programs.

Lida Griest started her educational counseling company fourteen years ago focusing on day school placement, helping families determine the right school fit for their children. Since Lida had previously worked in three Atlanta private schools as an English teacher and a school counselor, she has a first-hand understanding of the many factors that are involved in placing a student in a successful educational setting. Lida’s master’s degrees in counseling and as a reading specialist provide her with the necessary tools to evaluate each student’s needs and assist families throughout the admission process.

Lida’s day school placement service provides assistance to students from kindergarten through twelfth grade. She also specializes in working with students who have been diagnosed with learning disabilities, ADHD, and students who are on the Autistic spectrum.

Lida started assisting high school students and their families with their college placement needs ten years ago. Having gone through the process with her own three children, she is fully aware of how stressful and challenging this endeavor can be for a family — and especially — the high school student. Her experience as an English teacher is invaluable when it comes to guiding and motivating students through the application and essay writing process.

In the past ten years, Lida has visited over 200 colleges so that she can give the students her first-hand professional opinion of different colleges. Lida begins working with her college placement students early in their 11th grade year, and she spends the next two years guiding and nurturing her students through this extremely important time in their lives. Her goal is to reduce family stress and anxiety, make the process easier and more fun, and ultimately, to get students accepted at colleges they will love and where they will thrive.
