Do NOT bring your cell phone to the SAT or ACT exam!

When taking the SAT or ACT, it is crucial that you not bring a cell phone or any other device that is capable of vibrating, beeping, or making any noise whatsoever. Every month, hundreds of students nationwide are dismissed from their exam because their cell phones go off. Your scores are canceled, and you must wait until the next test date to re-test. Besides just being a larger-than-life hassle, having to take the test again can have serious consequences:

• You might miss application date deadlines if you now have to wait for the next test date.
• Now you'll have to continue studying to keep the rust off for the next month or two until the next test date or risk making a lower score because you are no longer prepared.

What can I bring?

Cell phones are a big no-no, but you are still allowed to bring a watch. In fact we highly (hint, hint) recommend that you do wear a watch. However, your watch cannot make any noise. Test it out beforehand so you aren't surprised if it beeps on the hour, etc. If you are timing yourself on each section, the watch cannot make noise when you hit start/stop either.

Cell phone use is prohibited; students are strongly encouraged not to bring cell phones to the test center. If your phone makes noise, or you are seen using it at any time (including breaks), you may be dismissed immediately, your scores will likely be canceled, and the device may be confiscated. This policy also applies to any other prohibited digital or electronic device or both, such as a BlackBerry, pager, personal digital assistant, iPod, MP3 player, camera or other photographic equipment, or a separate timer of any kind. We strongly advise you not to bring them.
