College Consulting Collaborative
At the College Consulting Collaborative, we believe every student with learning differences deserves the highest quality assistance to become college-ready and find the "best fit" college. We work exclusively with students with learning challenges--ADHD, specific learning disabilities such as dyslexia, and students on the autism spectrum. We use a strengths-based approach to help students grow and master the essential skills for academic success and independent living.
College-bound students with learning differences work through the same activities as their peers: research, college visits, applications, essays and the like. At the same time, they must tackle additional tasks to ensure that they are fully prepared for the transition to independent living and ready for college success. We work with students to understand their struggles with not only time management and organization, self-advocacy, and the mundane, but also critical skills like laundry and money management.
Importantly, we offer more than just a list of colleges. We carefully review each student’s educational history. We collaborate with tutors, teachers, and psychologists to gain insights into our students’ learning profiles. We approach the college application process as an opportunity to evaluate and improve college readiness. Finally, we work continually on the transition process and skills students need to navigate the college environment--so different from high school.
The College Consulting Collaborative is a group of four independent educational consultants who work together, sharing insights, knowledge and expertise through regular meetings. We keep a busy travel schedule, visiting colleges and related programs, which includes intense dialogue with the learning specialists and staff in the Disability Services office and Learning Center.
