ACT Postpones Remote Testing
No at-home testing option for 2020-21 school year.
If you’re hoping to take the ACT from the comfort of home this year, you‘ll need to make other plans. Although the ACT’s official website still lists Remote Testing as an option for future test-takers, ACT, Inc announced late last month that they will not debut any kind of remote testing in the 2020-21 school year.
Demand for fully-remote ACT and SAT testing spiked during 2020, as many students worldwide were unable to test due to COVID-19. Both testing agencies promised to look into remote-testing options, but neither has produced a workable pilot program for at-home testing, although the College Board (which produces the SAT) will offer schools the opportunity to administer their AP exams remotely to students.
ACT, Inc still says they’re working on a remote testing option but haven’t given any more concrete details.
